A vibrant terracotta coloured vintage silk komon kimono with a complex geometric pattern based on the bark of a pine tree.
This striking komon (small print) kimono has a contemporary feel with a white all-over matsukawabishi design on a terracotta background. The kimono has a white silk inner and similar terracotta coloured silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining). Matsukawabishi is a traditional diamond based geometric pattern which derives from an abstract representation of the pattern of bark on a pine (matsu) tree.
Komon, literally ko (small) mon (pattern) are casual kimono worn for going out or casual gatherings that often have a small all-over print, but may also have stripes, checks or larger all over patterns.
