An antique (pre-1950) Japanese evening bag with a bold hexagonal tiled orange & gold brocade (kinran). Large enough to hold the essentials on a night out - keys, mobile phone & lip-gloss.
A slim box clutch covered with brocade silk (kinran) with a woven kikko & flower design. This bag has a plain beige twill silk interior and is fastened with a large gilt press stud. The interior has a slim credit card sized pocket. There are some small starch marks in the interior.
The kikkō pattern comes from the hexagonal pattern on a tortoiseshell and is considered auspicious, symbolizing longevity and good fortune.
