Flying Cranes & Tree Peonies

Regular price €75.00 Sale

A gorgeous vintage chirimen silk komon kimono with a repeat biscuit coloured design of flying cranes and tree peonies some outlined in black on a wine coloured background.

Hanakuitori - a 'flower-eating bird' is a motif that was adopted from Chinese art. The bird hidden amongst the tree peony flowers in this design is the crane. The kimono has an off-white silk inner and deep rose silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining).

Komon, literally ko (small) mon (pattern) are casual kimono worn for going out or casual gatherings that often have a small all-over print, but may also have stripes, checks or larger all over patterns.
