Olive Rinzu Michiyuki

Vintage Ready-To-Wear

Regular price €35.00 Sale

Vintage silk rinzu kimono jacket (michiyuki) featuring a self-coloured woven bark pattern. An attractive one-of-a kind design in bokashi shades of olive green with a delicate hand-painted blossom, flowers and simple landscape design.

Bokashi is Japanese term for ‘shading’ and originates in woodblock printmaking where variations in a single colour is achieved by hand applying a gradation of ink, rather than inking the block uniformly. This technique has been used on rinzu which is a silk damask fabric in which a subtle, repeat satin pattern is woven onto a matte background.

This jacket would work perfectly as a tunic over jeans, but equally well with a fine knit turtle-neck for work-wear.

michiyuki is traditional three-quarter length kimono-style travelling jacket. It is designed with a low square neckline to show off the kimono underneath and has a double-breasted front opening that closes with snap fasteners with decorative self-covered buttons and a secret pocket tucked in the right hand side of the opening.
