A sophisticated cocoa coloured silk rinzu (damask) kimono jacket with a woven matsukawabishi design over-printed with with coffee coloured pine needles.
Matsukawabishi is a tiled design based on the shapes seen in the bark of a pine tree. The pine or matsu is a symbol of longevity & one of the ‘three friends of winter’ - pine, bamboo & plum, whose various attributes provide an allegory for weathering hard times.
The cream silk rinzu (damask) lining has been over-printed with a smudged pink flower mon (crest) pattern while the two-tone off-white & purple himo add a tiny pop of colour.
This haori jacket would work equally well as a day or evening cover-up.
