A mauve vintage silk shibori kimono jacket with a patchwork of traditional designs- bishamon kikko, seighaia & shippo created by the Japanese craft of shibori, an intricate form of tie-dye.
The kimono jacket (haori) has a vintage style flower print silk lining and fastens with ombre white and deep fuschia hand-braided silk ties. Shibori kimono jackets make great summer cover-ups to go with jeans and a t-shirt for a sophisticated casual look.
This pre-loved vintage piece has a very tiny starch spot on the left front sleeve which is part of its vintage nature, but overall it is in excellent condition and suitable for wearing.
Shibori is a traditional manual resist dyeing technique in which tiny sections of light-weight silk are bound with thread to produce the design before dyeing. Learn more about the art of shibori in our short blog introduction here
