A light draping brown crepe vintage silk kimono with a salmon pink batik style swirling flowers and leaves design.
The kimono has an off-white silk lining with a deep red terracotta silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining) and is in good vintage condition. The design is a contemporary karakusa pattern. Karakusa is an ancient arabesque pattern brought to Japan from the middle east that has spirals influenced by vines and other natural forms.
Komon, literally ko (small) mon (pattern) are casual kimono worn for going out or casual gatherings that often have a small all-over print, but may also have stripes, checks or larger all over patterns.
