Blue & Purple Flowers Furoshiki

Vintage chirimen furoshiki that has an all-over Edo style stylized leaf & flower print. The name Furoshiki are traditional Japanese eco-friendly fabric squares that are used with simple cloth-folding techniques for wrapping gifts, clothes or other goods. 

Edo are a type of komon (small print) design characterized by tiny dots arranged in dense patterns that form larger designs. This dyeing technique originated with the samurai class during the Edo period and is created using paper stencils.

Chirimen is a heavy lustrous crepe with a crinkled uneven texture created by the weft thread being kept tighter than the warp thread during weaving, while also being twisted.
