Mauve Bokashi Streams

A deep mauve bokashi vintage silk haori with a fine line design of scrolling lines that suggests kawa (the river), a stylized rippling stream or river. Kawa or river can be more or less stylized and symbolizes continuity and the future.

The haori has an white rinzu silk lining with an all-over net design with stylised chrysanthemums and cream silk hiimo ties. Rinzu is a silk damask fabric in which a subtle, repeat satin pattern is woven onto a matte background. 

Bokashi is Japanese term for ‘shading’ and originates in woodblock printmaking where variations in a single colour is achieved by hand applying a gradation of ink, rather than inking the block uniformly.
