Mens Antique Mount Fuji Juban

A sky blue antique man's silk juban with attractive hand painted landscape views of Mt Fuji surrounded by pine trees. Although this is a mens juban it could also be worn by a woman.

Mount Fuji is the most iconic of Japan's sacred mountains and became popular as a motif in the Edo era. The pine or matsu is a symbol of longevity & one of the ‘three friends of winter’ - pine, bamboo & plum, whose various attributes provide an allegory for weathering hard times. This100% fine silk juban with white silk lining is in very good vintage condition externally but has some faint starch marks on the white silk lining that correspond with the painted design. It is entirely wearable for someone who appreciates its antique nature.
