Red Geometric Shibori

A vintage Japanese kimono jacket (haori) with a geometric tile pattern created in an all-over shibori design in dark red on a white silk rinzu background. 

The haori has a cream silk lining over printed with pale salmon pink with a swirl design printed with a darker pink bark pattern. The haori ties with white & mint hand-braided silk himo. 

Shibori is a traditional manual resist dyeing technique in which tiny sections of light-weight silk are bound with thread to produce the design before dyeing. Learn more about the art of shibori here
