A lovely vintagesilk komon kimono that has been [re.form]ed to create a luxurious ankle grazing robe that would be equally perfect for relaxing at home, as a glamourous poolside cover-up or thrown over a vest top and jeans for a night out.
The robe, printed with a fine red & white same-komon print on a narrow woven ribbed medium weight silk, retains the loose silhouette & draping sleeves of a traditional kimono and has a matching sash belt. There is a cream silk lining with a bubble gum pink silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining).
This subtle print design was originally favoured by samurai but was popularised during the Edo Period (1603 – 1868). Same translates as ‘shark’ and komon as ‘small pattern’.
