Rose Pink Shibori Obiage

Rose pink silk vintage shibori obiage. Perfect to be worn as a neck scarf or head wrap, this obiage has a lovely kiku or chrysanthemum motifs. 

The obiage is created from a light-weight silk rinzu (damask) with a woven all-over sayagata or fretwork design interspersed with flower motifs & chrysanthem heads in the shibori  design. An obiage is a scarf-like obi accessory that is worn with a full width obi for ceremonial wear.

Shibori is a traditional manual resist dyeing technique in which tiny sections of light-weight silk are bound with thread to produce the design before dyeing. Learn more about the art of shibori here
