An unique vintage silk kimono with a dark orange, moss green & mustard roketsuzome diagonal check on a lovely mid-weight rinzu silk woven with pampas grass fronds and clouds (egasumi). Roketsuzome isa wax-resist type dyeing technique similar to batik.
The kimono has a cream silk lining and orangebokashi (ombre) silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining) and is in excellent condition.
Komon, literally ko (small) mon (pattern) are casual kimono worn for going out or casual gatherings that often have a small all-over print, but may also have stripes, checks or larger all over patterns. Rinzu is a silk damask fabric in which a subtle, repeat satin pattern is woven onto a matte background.
